The Standard is located in the Indigo Hotel in downtown Fort Myers since 2015. They are known for their made from scratch dishes and Drag Queen Bingo. Yes, you read that correctly. The Standard is about giving back to the community so, often the Drag Queen Bingo benefits local charities. We happened to attend for such events and wondered how they could possibly handle such a large crowd, still serve delish made from scratch meals and now have service suffer. Well they actually are able to accomplish all of this.
We attended for dinner on one occasion and brunch on the other. As the odds would have it, we had the same server each time. The Standard serves American comfort food and has wide variety of options from pizza to pasta to short ribs to burger and sandwiches. Brunch is held on Saturday’s and Sunday’s with the option for bottomless Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s. At brunch you will find omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pizza’s, benedicts and burgers.
The food on both occasions were really good. My dining partner felt the French fries were the best in Fort Myers. We had burgers, appetizers, fish and chips, crab omelet, and scrambled egg breakfast. The quality of the products used really makes a difference. The adult beverages are excellent as well.
Drag Queen Bingo is also great fun. There are 8 games for $15. The bingo games played are quite creative and Alyssa Lemay makes it fun. This is not a kid friendly event as it is R rated. Each week thousands of dollars are raised for local charities. On the occasions we were there, it was Best Buddies and SWFL Horse Rescue. Each nonprofit also sells 50/50 tickets that also offers the opportunity to win other prizes.
Whether you go to the Standard for brunch or dinner, or any of their events, you will not be disappointed.
