Ever crave for something different? A place with food that has taste and flavor? That is what we were craving so we decided it was time to pay Luigina’s a visit. They are located on US 41 just north of the San Carlos area.
Their name is a combination of the owner’s names, Louie and his wife, Gina. They previously owned Ron Dao’s. Luigina’s offers Italian and Portuguese Cuisine with a full liquor bar. They also offer catering and are open for lunch, dinner, take out and delivery through Grubhub.
We were in the mood for something different so I chose the Paelha Portuguese Style ($25.95) made with yellow safron rice, pork meat, shrimp, mussels, calamari, lobster, clams, chouriço, cilantro and green peas. My dining partner chose the Lollipop Lamb Chops ($18.95) These mini lamb chops are char grilled over mashed potatoes and topped with a Jack Daniels brown sauce and asparagus.
The broth for the paelha was outstanding. If they bottled it, I would certainly purchase some. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the seafood was bountiful. The presentation was excellent. They give you so much that I had plenty left over for several other meals.
The lamb chops were tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. The char flavor was to die for and oh that Jack Daniels sauce!!! The asparagus was a bit on the cool side and lacked flavor. That was the only weakness of an otherwise truly outstanding meal. But wait… there was dessert.
We chose the Crème Brulee and the Limoncello Flute. We barely had room but these are our favorites so we could not resist. The Crème Brulee was absolutely perfect. The lemoncello flute was light and refreshing and a perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
The service was truly on point.
If you are looking to try something different where you can have a meal that is flavorful and great portion sizes then give Luigina’s Pizza & Grill a try!!! They will soon become one of your favorites!
